Testimonials 2009

Our Labrador puppies in their new homes.

It is with great proud that we post these testimonials from people that have acquired a van Dalen puppy or dog in the past. All these dogs went from our home to their now forever homes to form part of all these splendid families. This is one of the main reasons that make us get better every day.

Thanks to you guys for taking such good care of our babies!

Laura

"Remmy"

Diamond & Marty

Laura here are a few recent pics of Remmy, he continues to be “The Dog” and is a key part of our family, his obedience is remarkable as is his easy going demeanor and he is the perfect companion for all occasions.
He is now 8 right at 8 months old.
Hope all is going well on your end in the new location.

"Tank"
Tiffany & Walker

Laura,

My husband Pat made an excellent decision to visit your kennel.

Here are a few pictures of our new puppy settling in with his new family. Our female, Alley, is enjoying playing with her new toy...

Tank (as he is being called) had his vet appt on Dec 22 to continue his shots and start his heartworm. He weighed 23 pounds and charmed all.

My nephew gladly acted as a pillow for him so you can tell he will have a rough life as a Gildea dog.

I am sorry I was not able to meet you but wanted you to know that Tank has filled a void for me (and Alley) since the loss of our Buck earlier.

Have a Merry Christmas.

Randee Gildea

Few more pictures, they must have been to large to send in one email, hope you are proud of all of us, they are looking beautiful.

"Walker"
Clark X Lucy

Hi Laura,

Today Walker and I took our usual walk on our road along the edge of the mountain, about a mile or soto where it dead ends.At that point we usually go down one of the trails where I feel comfortable to unleash him and let him run and explore the woods (several hundred acres)! There is also a small pond that he enjoyed today for the first time. I wish you could have seen him!He apparently wore himself out because he's been sleeping in front of the fireplace since we got back. I am sending you some pics but they may not be very clear because it was very foggy on the mountain today. He's the greatest!!Don't think I could live without him at this point!!

"Harley"
Diamond X Marty

Laura,

Harley is doing great! He keeps growing and growing...I thought we were getting the runt of the liter? HA-HA! He is already 72 pounds.

We took this great picture of him and we wanted to share the picture with you. I think he is a perfect looking lab--I might be bias though.

"Charlie"

Blossom X Henry

Hi Laura,

I wanted to send you an updated picture of Charlie from Halloween. He is getting so big. His head is starting to resemble Henry. He is 10 months old and weighs about 75 pounds. We have not had him neutered yet so he will develop the masculine features. Even not being neutered, he has the most calm, laid back personality. MaKenzie can sit on him, hug him, pull his ears, poke his eyes, put her hands in his mouth and he just sits there and licks her. They definitely have their own relationship! I hope all is well and you enjoy the picture!
Sincerely,
Shannon

"Stella"

Estela X Ace

Hello Laura,

It has been some time since I visit your site and send you some pictures of Stella (Estela x Ace). She will be 5 now in January. It's crazy how fast time goes by. Here are some recent pics. She is the sweetest and most loving dog you will ever meet. Thank you so much.

Gisella

"Duncan"

Onyx X Tyler

Hi Laura

Just a quick note say Duncan is doing very well. He's almost eight months old now and growing like crazy. He absolutely loves the water and spends the majority of his time wet. As you can see from the picture, he even keeps the pool toys in line. We couldn't be happier with him. Thanks again.

Chuck, Laurie, and Duncan

"Harley"
Diamond X Marty

Laura,

We wanted to update you on Harley! He is such a wonderful dog and he gets so many comments on how hansom he is. It amazes me how much joy Harley brings to our lives. Harley wants nothing from us but our love and he gives it back 10 times more! We couldn't have asked for a better dog. Thank you! I attached some pics of Harley at 5 months.

Charlie

"Bouy"
Diamond X Marty

Laura

I thought you would like to see these pictures of "Orange Boy" from Marty and Diamonds litter.

We named him "Bouy", because he loves the water and is always swimming.

We are really enoying him and we think he is the best looking Labrador we have ever seen.

Thanks,

Rob

"Slipper"

Onyx X Tyler

Hey Laura,

Here are the ones we took today – almost exactly 6 mos. I meant to ask you about registering/naming her – do I remember I needed to put van Dalen in her name? We’ve thought of all kinds of names, but we thought rather than come up with a specific kennel name, we would just name her ….That’s My Girl Slippers….. – like That’s My Boy Tyler – guess that could become “That’s My” kennel? 

I was just looking back at Tyler’s puppy pics and there are some so similar, I could hardly tell them apart from Slippers – there are even a couple where he looks toed out and narrow up front, but he grew out of that pretty darn well! However, he is one of the few animals I’ve known who didn’t go through a real gangly stage – he was always pretty balanced. Time will tell.

"Slipper"

Onyx X Tyler

Hi Laura,

We haven't been the best parents about taking pictures – life has been a little hectic to say the least. I’ll send another batch we took today – she’s really in a gangly stage right now – she’s grown taller and longer, but now needs to grow wider. Absolutely a fantastic personality – very athletic and VERY smart. I have no idea why The Man puts up with her, but they get along great – even though she will just go up and grab him by the neck and shake for all its worth – she’ll even grab a leg while he’s sleeping – usually around the elbow and just shake it until he gets up and plays with her.

I’ve tried my best to keep her from being totally spoiled, but she is Randy’s little charmer – she likes to sit with him on the sofa and drapes herself around his neck – literally, like a little necklace – I’ll try to get a picture – when she thinks it’s time to get up, she puts her back to the headboard, wraps her body around his head and licks his ears.

She can be pretty wild and I think how Martha Lee would have loved her spunk – she never wanted them too quiet – they needed to be working dogs – I think she’d like this Slipper girl.

Hope all is well with you and your pups.

"Harley"
Diamond X Marty

Hi Laura,

Harley is doing great! He's gained 13lbs this month, now weighing 31 lbs!

Here are a couple of photos from the begining of July...and we'll be sure to get you more updated ones soon. he is so much bigger now!

Hope all is well with the move!

Megan

"Remmy"
Diamond & Marty

Laura
We wanted to send you some pictures of Remmy and let you know his progress to date, we were very excited to welcome him into our family and wanted to let you know that he is a most beautiful and well behaved puppy. He is 12 weeks now and has progressed very well with the house training, he sleeps throughout the night and never makes a sound while crated, he is currently learning to heel on a lead and has done very well with all the basic commands. We keep the training to 5 -8 minute sessions in keeping within his attention span and I have even taught him a couple extra commands early for convenience like “talk” to communicate when he needs to go outside and to “crawl” just for fun.
He has had all his shots to date and was given very high marks by our Veterinarian on health condition and meeting / exceeding the breed standard. I apologize for waiting so long to get you pictures by I had my computer crash and along with it were many pictures showing his tremendous growth, he is now 31 pounds and looks to be losing his baby fat. The pictures that we had save are attached and I hope you enjoy them, we will send better pictures soon.
Thanks once again for all the hard work on your end ensuring the delivery of this most special pup, we will strive to provide for him the best home possible and will always be using positive reinforcement to teach him to correct way to meet his growing obedience needs.
Please don’t hesitate to call on us for any reason and we will talk again very soon.

Steve & Cathy Cook

"Tommy"
Diamond X Marty

Hi Laura,

Here are pictures of Tommy taken this weekend at 12 weeks. He went swimming for the first time on Saturday and he has no fear. He went right in the water with Rocky and Phoenix and swam like a big dog.

I hope all is going well with you and your dogs and new girls.

Enjoy, let me know how you think Tommy is coming along.

Karen

"Charlie"

Blossom X Henry

Hi Laura,

We found a great place to take Charlie when we have to go on vacation in August. It is called "Must Love Dogs". They are also a daycare for dogs, we take Charlie once a week and he LOVES it. This gives him an opportunity to socialize with other dogs without us around. There are alot of people who take their dogs here.

I have reattached the pictures of Charlie and MaKenzie. Talk to you soon!

"Henry"
Molly X Gandalf

Laura
We thought you would enjoy a couple of recent pictures of Henry. If you remember we got him from you last Aug 08 after he was returned to you from a previous adopter. Henry has been a real joy and is bursting with excitement most every day. He keeps us hopping, that is for sure. Enjoy the pictures.

"Dash"

Diamond X Marty

Laura,

I just wanted to let you know we made it home fine, and hunter puppy is doing great here. We have decided to name him Dash. He slept most of the trip home and did pretty well for the first night home. We took him in the pool earlier. He is a really good swimmer and seems to like the pool a lot, but it wore him out. Take care and thanks so much! We will send you updates periodically!

"Beans Baggins"
Molly X Gandalf

Greetings,
Just thought I'd drop you a note to let you know that Beans, now 1 1/2 years old, is doing great. As you can see, she loves her morning hikes and afternoon naps. She has the perfect disposition and is always friendly, happy and ready to go - never demanding or needy. She has also done really well with her training and is very well behaved. Best of all, she is so much fun! If we had a dollar for every time she made us smile, we'd be multi- millionaires!

"Coco"

Sushi & Gandalf

Hi Laura

Wanted to send you some updated pics of Coco. She is doing great. We have 12 kids under the age of 7 on our street and in our back yard most of the time. They think of her as one of them and she loves it. She doesn't like retrieving tennis balls, but prefers soccer balls and frisbees. Loves to swim and would give up food for attention from people.

We couldn't ask for a better dog.

thank you.

Anna, Kate and Coco Ingram

"Bentley"

Molly X Gandalf

"Gracie"

Onyx X Gandalf

Laura,

A picture of my beautiful dogs. Bently and Gracie both are the same height and weigh 71 pounds.

"Shaney"

O'Mally X Gandalf

Laura, it’s been too long since you have heard from us, and for that I’m sorry. We have been so busy with SHANEY !! chasing left and right, watching and babysitting her constantly. We are enjoying our new pup so much, and she is truly a beauty. What fun, and what energy. She will allow me to hold her, loving and petting her in my lap --- even for extended periods of time. She does well on car trips; enjoyed the beach outing, later a picnic, and her new kiddy-pool. We are still working on the new dog-run; purchased the 8 panels, and it will be 6’ X 18’, over stepping stones and brick (tho’ she will always be an inside-dog). Shaney is doing great with “potty”, and your training with wood-chips is a blessing and a help. She loves our natural around surrounding the house. You are so smart --------- and so is she!!

I’ve met the “obedience trainer”, and that should start in a month, and the shots with the vet are going great. Her weight is fine (we go tomorrow for current weight and another shot) – more on that later. Her training is proceeding well, and I am a great fan of the “dried liver treats”. She is sweet, smart, and adorable ---- certainly more beautiful than MARLEY. That was a great breeding mix. We love her. Thank you again, Ginny and Tom

"Sadie"

Onyx X Tyler

Hey Laura,

Sadie is doing really well. She loves her bulldog sisters, who try to play with her as best as they can. She is so smart! She has already figured out how to climb the stairs, but not yet mastered coming down :) She has tolerated being carried around, all day, everywhere by all of the boys. But of course, mostly by the youngest. He loves her so much. She brings our oldest to the bus stop every morning and even wished the entire elementary school bus good luck last week with their CRCT testing. We all love her very much! We will keep you updated. Thanks so much!

Tonya, Edward, Hudson, Jack and Ben

"Duncan"

Onyx X Tyler

Laura

Just a short note tell you that Duncan has fit into our (his) household seamlessly. He had a great trip back to Florida and immediately adapted to his new home. He's growing like a weed and learning more everyday. Thanks very much--he's a wonderful puppy.

"Charlie"

Blossom X Henry

Hi Laura,

We started at Alchemy two weeks ago and are very impressed so far. The owner, Anne, made a comment about Charlie saying "what a great lab head" and "he is very smart". He is doing awesome. He picks up the commands on the first go round. They were surprised for his age only being 13 weeks that he does as well has he does. He is the youngest in the class. When we went for his 12 week shots he weighed in at 30 pounds.

Hope all is well with you and we will talk to you soon!

"Daisy"

Diamond X Gandalf

Hi Laura,

She is definitely a wide-body, weighting ~55+lbs at 7 months. Daisy took to our farm pond without hesitation, retrieving thrown sticks until tired. A few pictures for your scrapbook.

Great dog!

Al & Melba Trujillo

"Slipper"

Onyx X Tyler

Thought I’d give you an update on “Slipper”

She’s quite independent – goes out in the front yard with the other dogs and she’ll go off and explore on her own. When she’s had enough, she goes right back up the stairs and back to the house while we just stand and watch. This afternoon she was in the house for almost 10 minutes before anyone else came back in – front door wide open the entire time. She is fearless and spends much of her time upside down with toys – hard to be in a bad mood when she is so incredibly thrilled with life.

After all the excitement we took her upstairs, put her in her crate for the first time – not a peep – she passed out and slept ALL night.

Thanks to both of you – we think she is just great.

Jean

"Hunter"

Onyx X Tyler

Hello,

I just wanted to drop you an email letting you know the puppy we picked up from you last Saturday is doing well. He travelled well. Thank you so much - he is such a joy. I have attached 2 pictures of him.

Diane Smith

"Charlie"

Blossom X Henry

He is such a GREAT dog. We get so many compliments on him. He is so obedient and smart. Our vet made a comment about his looks and his intelligence. I was commanding him at the vet and he listened to every command. She could not believe that at 9 weeks of age he was doing all of the things we have taught him and said to us "he is very intelligent". We really can't take credit....he is very bright. We start obedience school at Alchemy next Sunday so I will let you know how it goes! I talked to Ann the owner and really liked her!

"Wilson"

Rolly X Gandalf

Hi Laura!

I know it has been a while so I wanted to send an update on Wilson...

Wilson turned two this year and he is still the same lovable lap dog (so he thinks) that he has always been. At 98 lbs he is hard to cradle in my lap, but he manages to try and make it work. He is a wonderful boy and he continues to love living in the country. We get hogs every spring and it is his favorite time of year because he eats everything they leave behind...Always hungry that Willy!

"Charlie"

Blossom X Henry

Hi Laura,

I wanted to send you an update on Charlie. He is growing like a weed and is very intelligent. Over the past 1.5 weeks he has learned to ring the bell hanging from the front door when he needs to go outside to potty, sit, leave it and come. We are working on stay and shake! He is 8 weeks old and weighs almost 20 pounds. At his first health check at the vet everyone commented on how beautiful he was and just loved his big block head. The vet is estimating he will be around 90 pounds and muscular. I have attached a photo. I hope all is well!

Sincerely,

Cliff, Shannon and MaKenzie

"Blue" & "Red"

Gandalf X Sushi

Hi Laura,

We got our labs from you (Gandalf x Sushi). They'll be 1 year old in a couple of weeks. They are doing great. We get compliments all the time from people about what great looking dogs they are. Thank you for giving us these wonderful dogs . They are fully a part of the family now. Attached is a pic from when they were about 10 months.

Unni

"Tango"

Blossom X Henry

Hi Dr. Laura,

It’s been awhile since we checked in with you. Tango (Blossom X Henry, 4/48/08, Blue Boy) is now 10 month’s old and weighs 70 pounds. He is such a sweet T and brings our family so much joy. Last weekend he finally got to swim in the lake….lots of fun for him and us! Enjoy the picture!

Hope all is well with you and all your “babies.”

Love,

The Edwards Family

"Charlie"

Blossom X Henry

Hi Laura,

I just wanted to send you a quick note to say thank you! Cliff and I are very excited about our new addition to the family and MaKenzie is head over heals in love. I have attached a couple of pictures....I know...it has only been a day, but the picture with him and MaKenzie is just too cute to not pass along. MaKenzie and Charlie are like two peas in a pod....they follow each other everywhere. We are working on crate training, he is not a fan, but we are hoping tonight is better and know that it takes time. I hope you enjoy the pictures and thank you again for taking such great care of him.

Shannon

"Riggins"

Abby X Gandalf

and his buddy Harley

Laura,

I wanted to update you with some photos of Riggins. If you can remember, he was the purple puppy back in December. Attached are some from the beginning, and then recent ones. He is doing great and has become buddies with his older brother, Harley.

"Brutus"

Go-Dah X Gandalf

Hi Laura,

sorry I haven't e-mailed photos in a while. This is Brutus. He'll be 1 on 3/31. He is gorgeous (but you knew that even when he was a puppy). sorry his eye is blinking in the one photo, but I'm sending it anyway so you can see how "blocky" his head is.

Oh, I was at a 10K race last weekend, and met a guy with two beautiful yellow labs. Of course I had to talk to him, and it turns out they were Van Dalen Labs!

Talk to you soon.

Karen

"Gus"

Abby X Gandalf

and his buddy LD

Hi Laura:

This picture was too cute to not pass on. This is Gus with his little adopted sis LD on the way to lots of fun on the island. They have become the so attached to each other. We usually meet up with two other lab owners. This weekend we had 3 labs, a poodle, and LD out. It is so beautiful to watch them run and play. It makes me wish I could be one of them. They do have the life. Gus is still doing great. He is heading into his 3rd year and is showing signs of leaving his puppy years behind.

Hope all is going well in these tough times,

Gail Wiemann

"Stella"

Diamond X Gandalf

Hi Laura,

I thought you might enjoy some recent photos of Stella (Diamond x Gandalf litter). She loves the warm Florida weather and especially the beach! She has been such a wonderful addition to our family.

Thanks again!

Heather Malone

"Tank"

Chancy X Gandalf

Hi Laura.

I am so sorry that we haven't sent any pictures of Tank. He was Maroon Boy in Gandalf and Chancy's litter - (born July 11, 2008). He is beautiful and a joy to have. He is very obedient (except with the commands "drop it and leave it". He is very laid back and not a barker. We all love him so much. Again, thanks for giving us the pick of the litter.
take care.

Elena

"Cicero"

Abby X Gandalf

He is a joy and growing by leaps and bounds.

Many thanks,

Allen Grubbs

"Chancy"

Sky X Ace

Laura,

Chancy is doing very well here with us, she has adapted to our family without any issues. That crate we bought is hardly used anymore since she roams around the house like she owns it (she does too!). For almost 2 months I think, she has been going to pick up the kids at school in the van and she's always looking forward to the trip. We can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can take her to the lake, she's going to have a blast there and so are we. As for eating habits, I had her on Eukanuba for a while, but noticed she preferred the Iams Natural Choices, so I switched her back; Iams was the food we first gave her after bringing her home.

Alex

"J.J."

Abby X Gandalf

JJ is doing well. Today was his first snow.

"Rivers"

Diamond X Gandalf

Hi Dr. Laura,

Just wanted to let you know that Rivers is doing great! He is getting to be such a big boy! He weighed in at 40 pounds this past week at the vet. I am including a few pics of him. We get so many compliments on him. Everyone has said he looks like the "Marley and Me" dog. Hope you are having a great new year.

Leah and Jacob

"Beans Baggins"

Molly X Gandalf

READY SET! GO! Bounding Beans welcomes the new year with her usual energy and enthusiasm. Wishing you the best in 2009!
